MY BACKGROUND

I grew up north of Boston but have called the South Bay my home for over ten years.  I fully subscribe to the notion of “West Coast. Best Coast.”  I have spent my career in various finance and business development roles, mainly focused on the healthcare and energy industries.  Out of college, I worked as a healthcare investment banker, advising and supporting clients in executing various financial transactions.  I next joined Breitburn Energy, a Los-Angeles based oil and gas E&P, as the Director of Corporate Finance, reporting directly to the CFO.  After business school, I would eventually return to Breitburn as Business Development Manager, focused on strategy and acquisitions.  In the interim, I also spent nearly a year at Brownson, Rehmus and Foxworth, a large wealth management firm in Chicago.  In each of my roles, I was drawn to the deep knowledge, attention to detail, and financial acumen required to help my company or clients make informed financial decisions.

WHY I CHOSE THIS PROFESSION

I was first exposed to the wealth management industry through my dad who has had his own wealth management firm since 1987.  Growing up, I knew my dad loved his job.  It was evident in his eagerness to get to the office on Monday mornings, in the extra time spent after hours and in how he spoke about his clients.  Now, as an adult, I can see that while my dad certainly enjoys the subject material, what brings him the most satisfaction is the significant meaning and purpose he finds in helping clients prepare for and live their best lives.  Thus far, I have spent my career in various financial roles, and I too, enjoy the subject material, but meaning and purpose in my profession has eluded me.  It was with this in mind that I obtained my CFP® certification in 2010, and the very early whispers of the idea for Someday Advisors began to emerge.

MY OTHER INTERESTS

  • Running — My passion for running began in middle school and has never faded.  In a lot of ways, being a runner is what makes me the most me.  It is my North Star.
  • Traveling — I have visited 49 states (just missing Alaska) and 19 countries.  My favorite destinations thus far: New Zealand () and Patagonia in Argentina ().
  • Television — I get a lot of grief for this, but I think there is some great television being made.  Plus, I cannot tell you how many times I have instantly bonded with a new friend over this shared interest.
  • Smart Technology — My entire house would be a “smart” house if it could be.  Someday.  Right now, there are smart light bulbs, a smart lock, smart speakers and a smart television.  It brings me endless joy.
